If you're here, it's because Flagg has offered to read your fortune, whether that be via tarot cards, scrying, palm reading, Magic 8 Ball, animal entrails or some combination thereof. Just kidding about the entrails. I think.

But you're also here because, sadly, I'm not a sorcerer, and I need a little help to make sure the reading is as dynamic and useful from a CR/character development perspective as possible! I might ask some questions regarding the future, which can be tricky from an RP perspective, because we can never truly predict where our characters are going. Answer them anyway-- I won't hold you to any particular CR outcome, and you can always say the cards were just wrong.

So, I offer you two kinds of prophecy packages. The first one is:

OPTION A, or Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Flagg is a natural born liar and meddler, and if you choose this option, it's because you'd like him to mess with your character somehow. Flagg doesn't need a very compelling reason to manipulate and screw with people, but if he's doing it for:

+ A plot/personal gain (probably people he knows or people close to them): Then we've probably already talked about this some (or should via chat) & this part doesn't apply to you.

+ Amusement/trolling (new acquaintances/strangers): He'll use what elements of the Touch (Dark Tower's answer to ESP) he has in order to get a sense of what's on their mind. Nothing in depth here; he'd be getting vague impressions only. Ideas include: powerful emotions, a visual/phrase they can't get out of their head, a simple childhood fear. I'll take what ingredients you give me and create a little fortune guaranteed to mess with their heads. In a good way or a bad way, your choice.

OPTION B, or Why, it's just like you could read what was inside of me! Although he's really a smoke and mirrors guy at heart, Flagg does have some very real magic flowing through him, and he's got an especial fondness for his tarot cards. If you're picking this option, you want a tarot reading, and you want it to have some insight and accuracy.

+ Are there any specifics cards you'd like to see in the reading? These could be traditional tarot cards, Lenormand cards, or you could even pick an archetypal symbol that's eerily on the nose for your character (i.e., if Harry Potter was getting a reading, he could draw a card like 'The Savior' or 'The Stag').

+ Pick a past or future event, however small, you'd like the reading to allude to. You don't need to elaborate unless you want to; I just need the gist. Feel free to link me toward your app or canon wiki if applicable.

+ Think about whether your character the type to project awe/interest or cynicism/skepticism during a reading. This matters because it will affect Flagg's interpretation. If he feels they're being rude, impatient or dismissive, a truthful reading might get skewed to be a little more doom and gloom or glib than it would otherwise, because he's a bitch. Conversely, believable ass-kissers reap magical rewards. :]

+ Is there any particular imagery associated with your character or their story? Elements, animals, significant objects, colors, places?

+ Misc. Anything else you want to ask me about? Something else I should include? Some third option I didn't think of? Just let me know.

Oh, and there is one more thing! We haven't discussed the subject of payment.

If Flagg offered your character a reading, then you can consider it free, but not necessarily no-strings-attached. Whether your character would choose to honor Flagg's inferred favor is totally up to them, but he'll almost certainly remind them of his good deed at some point.

If your character approached Flagg and asked for a reading, he'll ask for some kind of payment, even if he doesn't announce it up front. Money is his least favorite currency. Can you get him free stuff where you work? Can you do him a favor? Do you have any gossip he'd care about? Things to think about, people.

And finally...

Flagg can be a challenging character to maintain traditional sorts of CR with, so this long-winded little survey is my way of creating sorta-business, sorta-personal bonds with the people that seek him out for prophecy/magic/fortune-telling (or find themselves sought after). Thanks in advance for the thought you put into this and letting me pimp my wizard!
